It is such a grand time for the warmongers.  President Bush and his lapdog Democratic Congress propose a so-called stimulus package of about a thousand dollars for each household without mentioning the current cost of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan is about $21,000 per family of four. When projected costs for the next decade the cost per family more than doubles.

The likely Republican nominee John McCain jovially sings about bombing Irani children.  He was a prisoner of war but remember that what he was doing when he was captured was bombing Vietnamese children from 40,000 feet. McCain proposes a hundred year military occupation of oil rich Iraq.

Hillary Clinton has a cute coterie of military advisors. Madeleine Albright was the Secretary of State for Bill Clinton while the U.S. sanctions caused the death of a half million Iraqi children. She stated on American television that the death of children is worth it if it promotes the expansion of U.S. Empire.  General Wesley Clark, the overseer of the bombing of civilians in Serbia, has publicly stated that the U.S. should bomb civilian targets despite the death of innocents if it was deemed militarily necessary.  Richard Holbrooke, an aide to Jimmy Carter, made certain that U.S. weapons got to Indonesian dictator Suharto so that he could invade and massacre 200,000 people in East Timor.

Barack Obama has his own bunch of militarists to pull his strings.  Zbigniew Brzezinski, the National Security Adviser under President Carter, in 1979 through the CIA created the Afghani jihadist group that later became Al Quaida.   When he was asked about possible negative consequences he said no one would care about a few riled up Muslims. Anthony Lake was a Bill Clinton aide who was key to the 1994 U.S. invasion of Haiti.  Sarah Sewall wrote the introduction to the U.S. Army Counterinsurgency Manual which is used worldwide by the U.S military.  Both Clinton and Obama say they are against the war in Iraq but neither has real plans to bring the troops home.

The weapons manufacturers and the arms dealers must be licking their chops.  It won't matter to them which candidate is elected in the next Presidential election.  The know that their coffers will continue to be filled by the U.S. military support for the U.S. Empire control of the world.

There will not be peace  in this world until the American people want a just world instead of a comfortable world.
