Pointing out the fallen
Ken Schwilk with Veterans for Peace points to memorial
markers on the lawn of the Washington State Capitol in Olympia. The group
planted 1,970 markers, one for each U.S. soldier killed in Iraq as of last week.
Group member Jody Tiller said the markers were a political statement: "I
want the war to end and the human cost of this war to be visible." Another
member, Bob Rudolph, said: "This is above politics — this is here to
memorialize our kids who have fallen."
